Sinfonia Varsovia will perform at the Murten Classics Festival (21-23 August 2014).
The concerts take place in the picturesque environment of the courtyard of the medieval castle in Murten.
Sinfonia Varsovia will be conducted twice by Charles Olivieri-Munroe (on 21 and 22 August). The musicians will perform the Overture to Mozart’s opera “Die Entführung aus dem Serail” KV 384, Rimsky-Korsakov’s symphonic suite “Szeherazade” op.35 and Tchaikovsky’s “Variations on a Rococo Theme” for cello and orchestra op.33, with Henri Demarquette as soloist.
Sinfonia Varsovia’s third concert on 23 August will feature Mozart’s Symphony No. 36 in C major KV 425 “Linz”, Ravel’s “Ma Mère l’Oye” and two works by Saint-Saëns: the “La princesse jaune” overture op.30 and “La muse et le poète” for violin, cello and orchestra. The solo parts will be performed by Fiona Kraege (violin) and Malcolm Kraege (cello). The conductor will be Kaspar Zehnder – the festival’s artistic director.
