In June, Sinfonia Varsovia\u2019s Concert Pavilion will be transformed into a dance floor. As it does every year, Sinfonia Varsovia is organizing a series of summer dance parties on Grochowska Street. From lively polkas and obereks, through the elegance of pre-war dancings, to the exuberance of Balkan music \u2013 on Fridays, June 12, 19, and 26, we invite you to join us for dancing to live music.<\/strong><\/p>\n

12 June: T\u0119gie Ch\u0142opy and the ABCs of polka and oberek<\/strong><\/p>\n

Is a few steps enough to feel the energy of a traditional dance? On Friday, June 12, T\u0119gie Ch\u0142opy (Tough Guys) ensemble, which specializes in traditional music from Kielce region, and Piotr Zgorzelski from the Academy of Traditional Dance will demonstrate the basic rhythms and steps of oberek and polka.<\/p>\n

19 June: Warsaw Dance Combo and Polish retro dances<\/strong><\/p>\n

Warsaw Dance Combo (winners of the 2026 Fryderyk Award in the Album of the Year \u2013 Roots Music category) proves that waltzes, slow foxtrots, foxtrots, and sentimental tangos are making a comeback. The atmosphere of interwar dance halls and summer outdoor dance parties is once again captivating the young and evoking nostalgia in the older generation. The evening of June 19 will be filled with the rhythms of foreign dances popular in the first half of the 20th century, and Piotr Zgorzelski will demonstrate the basic steps.<\/p>\n

26 June: Sarakina and the Bulgarian dance party <\/strong><\/p>\n

Finally, on June 26 \u2013 Balkan rhythms. The Sarakina ensemble and the Bulgarian Folklore Ensemble \u201cIzgrev\u201d will teach the dancing audience how to perform horo. This is a traditional processional dance originating from the Balkan Peninsula, often performed in a circle. The artists will demonstrate step by step what its various variations look like, such as the pravo horo, shirto horo, esikiysko horo, and chetvorno horo.<\/p>\n

Each dance party will begin with a professional dance performance and a lesson on the basic steps led by experienced instructors.
