16. Anatomical Theatre. Constellations: an immersive session

An immersive performative sculpture by Ewa Maria Śmigielska, featuring music by Wojtek Blecharz, grows out of the architecture and history of the site—a former anatomical theatre and once an operating room for large animals located in the surgical pavilion of the Veterinary Institute.

The project reverses the logic of the historical anatomical theatre, where the body, surrounded by the audience, served as an object of observation. Instead, the viewer is integrated into the structure of the artwork, immersing themselves in a monumental composition of light, sound, and space. Engaging in dialogue with its surroundings, the installation undergoes continuous transformation. It creates a space of concentration where silence coexists with Blecharz's composition. For Śmigielska, silence and time themselves become sculptural materials, on par with light, sound, and formal and cultural syncretism.
