Europasinfonie Announces a Composition Competition. Find Out More!
Sinfonia Varsovia, together with the Dresdner Sinfoniker, is pleased to announce that the Europasinfonie project has received additional financial support from the European Commission’s Creative Europe Programme.
Twelve Countries – One Orchestra
The Europasinfonie project, funded by the European Education and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA), will go down in the musical history of not only Dresden, but also of all the countries participating in the venture. In the summer of 2027, twelve leading European orchestras and choirs, coordinated by the Dresdner Sinfoniker, will join forces to create a virtual orchestra.
Musicians from twelve European countries will perform together in real time for the first time—despite being separated by vast distances of up to 2,200 kilometers. This will be made possible by a specially developed ultra-low-latency transmission technology, which is essential for making music together over the internet.
Competition for European Composers
Italian conductor Andrea Molino will conduct the world premieres of three pieces specially commissioned for the Europasinfonie project. The works will be selected through a composition competition open to creators from all over Europe.

- Selection: An international jury of highly distinguished specialists will select the winners in early October 2026.
Thanks to cooperation with European television and radio stations, the Europasinfonie concert will be broadcast live and made available to an audience of millions.
European Knowledge Transfer and Cooperation Network
Europasinfonie is more than just a one-off concert. Plans are underway to establish a cooperation network between music academies across Europe, equipped with studios running low-latency software.
This will allow students, orchestras, and composers to connect virtually across borders to create music and recordings together. It will enable extraordinary international projects and, crucially, reduce the need for air travel, thereby shrinking the carbon footprint of the music industry.
The Europasinfonie project is an example of practical European cooperation and a call for ongoing dialogue among all Europeans, not just those working in the arts.
