This coming weekend, Sinfonia Varsovia will perform at the Forest Opera in Sopot as part of the 3rd edition of the Baltic Opera Festival. Sunday’s performance, during which the orchestra will present Richard Strauss’s opera Salome, will also be fully available online as a live stream. The broadcast will begin on the official Baltic Opera Festival YouTube channel on July 13, 2025, at 9:00 PM.
Set in Judea, the opera tells the biblical story of Princess Salome, who captivates King Herod with her dance in exchange for the head of John the Baptist (Jokanaan in the opera). The musical language of the work stands out for its rich orchestration, expressionist style, and intense emotional power.
Sinfonia Varsovia will be conducted by Piotr Jaworski, with lead roles performed by Jennifer Holloway, Gerhard Siegel, Claudia Mahnke, and Oleksandr Pushniak. For more details, visit balticoperafestival.pl.
