The world premiere of The Best City in the World. An Opera about Warsaw is fast approaching! Ticket sales opened on 10 June 2025, and all scheduled performances on 19 & 20 September and 18 & 19 October are now sold out. We are grateful for your interest and look forward to seeing you in the autumn!
The libretto by Beniamin M. Bukowski is based on Grzegorz Piątek’s book The Best City in the World. Rebuilding Warsaw 1944–1949. The music was composed by Cezary Duchnowski, with stage direction by Barbara Wiśniewska. The opera is co-produced by Sinfonia Varsovia and the Teatr Wielki – Polish National Opera under the patronage of the City of Warsaw. Its premiere will be one of the key events marking the 80th anniversary of the start of Warsaw’s post-war reconstruction. At the same time, the premiere on 19 September 2025 will serve as the opening concert of the 68th Warsaw Autumn International Festival of Contemporary Music.
