Resounds. New Polish Music
Resounds. New Polish Music is a series of symphonic concerts presenting contemporary Polish music. The featured pieces explore the relationship between music and the world around us. These events are also a way to expand the search area into the historical context of the pieces being composed today.
The Resounds repertoire includes both premieres and pieces from the last century. So far Sinfonia Varsovia has premiered pieces by Paweł Mykietyn, Alexander Kostov, Maciej Zieliński, and Grzegorz Duchnowski. The events also featured works by Agata Zubel, Mieczysław Wajnberg, and Dmitry Shostakovich. The orchestra played with such soloists as Marcin Zdunik and Klaudiusz Baran, as well as conductors Bassem Akiki, Szymon Bywalec, Fuad Ibrahimov, and Wilson Hermanto.
Prior to each concert the composers and guests meet with the audience to talk about their music and how the shape of the world affects their creative process and the way they think about art.
